(WICHITA, KS - August 12, 2026) Wichita Park and Recreation, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, and National Fitness Campaign (NFC) today officially debuted an outdoor Fitness Court® and digital wellness programming at Osage Park, located at 2121 W. 31st Street.

This Fitness Court® was developed by Wichita Park and Recreation, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, and NFC to expand free access to high-quality workouts and create equitable access to exercise for residents across the region. The city opened its first Fitness Court at Pat Garcia Veterans Memorial Park in May of 2024, and this new location at Osage Park will further expand fitness access in the region. Wichita is one of 15+ Campaign Partners building a network of Fitness Courts across the state, with the help of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas.

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, attendees were invited to step onto the Fitness Court and give it a try. Councilman Dalton Glasscock and Councilman Joseph Shepard competed in a friendly head-to-head competition on the Fitness Court, demonstrating how to use the equipment!

The Fitness Court® is the world’s best outdoor gym that lets users leverage their own body weight to get a complete workout using seven exercise stations. Designed for adults of all abilities aged 14+, the Fitness Court® offers adaptable workouts for all fitness levels, allowing participants to move at their own pace. Users can also download the free Fitness Court® App which acts as a coach-in-your-pocket and enhances the outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness experience.

“We need more innovative solutions to address the physical activity needs of all Kansans. Solutions that will level the playing field and allow everyone a safe place to enjoy the outdoors and improve their health,” said Virginia Barnes, director of Blue Health Initiatives at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas. “We believe that all people deserve this opportunity, and we are proud to partner with the City of Wichita and NFC to show our commitment to improving the health of all Kansans.”

"At Wichita Park & Recreation, we're committed to creating parks and spaces that encourage healthy, active lifestyles for everyone in our community. The new Fitness Court® at Osage Park provides residents with free access to innovative outdoor fitness equipment, making it easier than ever to stay active, connect with others, and enjoy our parks. We're proud to continue investing in amenities that enhance quality of life and make Wichita an even healthier place to live" said Reggie Davidson, Director of Wichita Park & Recreation.

“We are excited to have Wichita open their second Fitness Court at Osage Park as we work to make a powerful and long lasting impact on health outcomes and happiness by building healthy communities across America,’’ said Mitch Menaged, founder of National Fitness Campaign. “The addition of this new outdoor Fitness Court, along with digital wellness programming, demonstrates a continued commitment to the health and wellbeing within the Wichita community.”
