Upper Township – September 28,2026 — Township of Upper Recreation, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon), and National Fitness Campaign (NFC), today announced a partnership to bring an outdoor Fitness Court® Studio and digital wellness programming to Township of Upper Recreation. The Fitness Court® Studio, located at Amanda’s Field 10 N. Sunset Dr. Upper Township, NJ 08270, will open Thursday October 1st at 3:30 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
This Fitness Court® Studio was developed by Township of Upper Recreation, Horizon, and NFC to expand free access to high-quality workouts and create equitable access to exercise for communities across the region. The Fitness Court® Studio is the world’s best outdoor gym that lets users leverage their own body weight to get a complete workout using seven exercise stations.
Created for adults of all abilities aged 14+, the Fitness Court® Studio workouts are adaptable for all fitness levels, allowing participants to move at their own pace. Users also may download the free Fitness Court® App which acts as a coach-in-your-pocket and enhances the outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness experience. Township of Upper Recreation is one of the first twenty Campaign Partners building a network of Fitness Courts across the state, with the help of Horizon.

About Township of Upper Recreation – Amanda’s Field
Located in Petersburg, Amanda's Field is the crown jewel of Upper Township’s recreational system. The park has recently transformed into a cutting-edge hub for fitness, highlighted by the newly opening NFC Fitness Court® Studio. Developed in partnership with the National Fitness Campaign and Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ, this state-of-the-art 38-foot by 73-foot outdoor Fitness Court Studio offers a free, circuit-training bodyweight workout space complete with stations for group classes. Directly adjacent, this project is part of the Cape May County Open Space grant in which the original skatepark which opened in 2004 is being completely redesigned by Spohn Ranch Designers & Skatepark Builders. This new concrete skatepark will be wrapping up early 2027, guaranteeing a safer, smoother, and vastly more durable footprint for local skaters.
Woven naturally, throughout these active installations are the park's expansive outdoor features, which cater to every type of athlete and nature walker from the 1.3-mile Walking Path. Also for the visitors is the 18-hole Disc Golf Course that hugs the outer loops and tree lines, which is a heavily rated 18-hole Amanda's Disc Golf Course. The Sports Fields in the interior of the park is dedicated to extensive team athletics, showcasing sprawling baseball diamonds, softball complex, and an indoor baseball facility. Rounding out the Amanda’s field is also a newly renovated street hockey rink.
