Tampa General Hospital and National Fitness Campaign Team Up to Bring Fitness Equipment to Bay Area Municipalities, Schools, and Communities

Partnership seeks applications from municipalities and schools across the Tampa, FL region.

(TAMPA, FLORIDA – April 17, 2025) Tampa General Hospital (TGH) and National Fitness Campaign (NFC) today announced a partnership to increase access to outdoor fitness equipment by collaborating to bring outdoor Fitness Courts® to communities across the Tampa metro region.

Municipalities, schools or any organization with accessible public space are encouraged to apply for grant funding to assist in building Fitness Courts® in their area, with matching funding provided by Tampa General Hospital and National Fitness Campaign. Each Fitness Court® includes seven exercise stations offering a no-cost full body workout for each user.

“National Fitness Campaign is excited to welcome Tampa General Hospital as they join the growing network of leading healthcare sponsors across the country, prioritizing equitable outdoor exercise across the Tampa Metro region,” said Mitch Menaged, founder of National Fitness Campaign. “This program will deliver tremendous resources to contribute to the important mission of improving health outcomes as the network of Fitness Courts grows across the region. We look forward to working with TGH to make this campaign a great success.”

In May 2022, Tampa General and the City of Tampa introduced TampaWell, a multi-year effort focused on engaging residents of Tampa Bay in preventative health efforts including regular, affordable exercise.

“National Fitness Campaign and their Fitness Courts® align with TampaWell’s mission to activate communities through an ecosystem that empowers mobility, mindfulness and care,” said Rachel Hoyer, assistant director of community wellness at Tampa General. “We are proud to be the exclusive partner of this initiative in the Bay Area and look forward to reaching our goal of 170 Fitness Courts® in our region by 2030.”

Created for adults of all abilities aged 14+, the Fitness Court® workouts are adaptable for all fitness levels, allowing participants to move at their own pace. Users also may download the free Fitness Court® App which acts as a coach-in-your-pocket and enhances the outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness experience.

Application Process Now Open to Bring a Fitness Court to Your Community

Grant recipients will receive a wellness toolkit, education, and design resources to assist in planning, funding and launching their outdoor Fitness Court and community wellness campaign.
