FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA – March 25, 2025) Independence Blue Cross (IBX) and National Fitness Campaign (NFC) announce a new collaboration to increase access to free outdoor fitness options in communities throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Bring a Fitness Court to your community
Municipalities, schools, and other organizations in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties who own accessible public space may now apply for grant funding to assist in building Fitness Courts®, courtesy of IBX and National Fitness Campaign. Grant recipients will receive a wellness toolkit, education, and design resources to assist in planning, funding and launching their outdoor Fitness Court® and community wellness campaign.
“Independence Blue Cross has long-supported accessible community health initiatives that break down barriers to physical and mental well-being,” said Dr. Richard Snyder, Independence Blue Cross Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “By teaming up with National Fitness Campaign to bring free, public exercise equipment to our region, we are helping to build a healthier, more inclusive future for all and ensuring every individual has the opportunity to thrive."
“National Fitness Campaign is excited to welcome Independence Blue Cross as they join the growing network of leading healthcare sponsors across the country, prioritizing equitable outdoor exercise across the Southeastern Pennsylvania region,” said Mitch Menaged, founder of National Fitness Campaign. “This program will deliver tremendous resources to contribute to the important mission of improving health outcomes as the network of Fitness Courts grows across the region. We look forward to working with IBX to make this campaign a great success.”
