San Leandro, CA – October 2, 2026 – The City of San Leandro and National Fitness Campaign (NFC), today announced a partnership to bring the first outdoor Fitness Court® and digital wellness programming to San Leandro. The Fitness Court®, located at Marina Park, will open on October 10, 2026, at 10:00 am with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and demonstration.
The Fitness Court® is a collaborative effort with the City of San Leandro and NFC to expand free access to high-quality workouts and create equitable access to exercise for communities across the region. The Fitness Court® is the world’s best outdoor gym, letting users leverage their own body weight for a complete workout using seven exercise stations.
Created for adults of all abilities aged 14+, the Fitness Court® workouts are adaptable for all fitness levels, allowing participants to move at their own pace. Users can also download the free Fitness Court® App, which acts as a coach in your pocket and turns the outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness experience. The City of San Leandro is contributing to the region's network of Fitness Courts. The Rotary Club of San Leandro provided $100,000 in essential funding to make this Fitness Court® a reality for years to come.
“Whether you're just beginning your fitness journey or looking for a new way to stay active, this Fitness Court is for you,” said Mayor Juan González. “I love that we're bringing something to Marina Park that encourages people to get outdoors, enjoy our beautiful shoreline, and make exercise part of their daily lives, all at no cost.”
“The Rotary Club of San Leandro envisions the Marina Park Fitness Court as a free, outdoor, public resource that removes many of the usual barriers to exercise—especially membership fees, gym transportation, and the need for specialized facilities” said President, Kenneth Pon. “It is intended to serve multiple generations, support all fitness levels in an accessible outdoor setting, encourage regular exercise routines, and create an inclusive community gathering place.”
