Yuba College has joined National Fitness Campaign with the launch of a new Fitness Court®, supporting Public Safety training and expanding free wellness access for students and the Marysville community.
At the end of last month, Yuba College and National Fitness Campaign (NFC) celebrated the opening of a new Fitness Court on the Marysville campus, officially joining the nationwide movement to build healthier communities through accessible outdoor wellness infrastructure.
Developed in partnership with NFC, the Fitness Court was designed to support the college’s Public Safety programs—enhancing training opportunities for police and fire cadets—and to offer free, inclusive fitness access for students, employees, and the greater Yuba-Sutter region. The Fitness Court represents a major step forward in promoting health, readiness, and community engagement on campus.

“The Fitness Court being open to our broader college and community is an added bonus that will continue to support our cultural commitment to the environment we are creating at Yuba College,” said Dean Alan Dixon, who oversees Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Workforce Development.
This world-class outdoor gym features seven bodyweight training stations, accessible pathways, and a free app that transforms the space into a digitally connected wellness hub. Designed for users aged 14 and older and of all abilities, the Fitness Court makes high-quality fitness resources more equitable and attainable for everyone.
Yuba College now joins hundreds of leading educational institutions across the country that are redefining campus wellness with NFC. By investing in Healthy Infrastructure, schools are improving student health outcomes, enhancing academic and career readiness, and strengthening their ties to the broader community.

“As a part of our commitment to high-quality programming for our students, the Fitness Court expands our options for police and fire cadets to get in and stay in the kind of shape necessary to be ready for the work they’ll do in industry after graduation,” said Yuba College Public Safety Director Mark Covington.
“We are proud to welcome Yuba College to the Campaign,” said Mitch Menaged, founder of National Fitness Campaign. “Their commitment to expanding access to wellness through the Fitness Court is a powerful example of how higher education can lead the way in building healthier, stronger communities.”
This partnership reflects a shared vision to make movement and wellness a core part of the college experience—and to set a new national standard for health on campus.
