Max Bell, a straight-A student-athlete from Huntsville, stays sharp, balanced, and motivated by incorporating Fitness Courts into his academic and athletic routine, showing how accessible wellness spaces empower young leaders to thrive.

For student-athlete Maximillien “Max” Bell, wellness isn’t just a habit—it’s the foundation that supports his academic goals, athletic aspirations and overall wellbeing. A straight-A scholar from Huntsville, Alabama with Ivy League ambitions, Max juggles rigorous coursework with a demanding travel baseball schedule, hockey, and All-American wrestling. Through it all, the Fitness Court® has become a place he can rely on to stay grounded, motivated and ready for what’s next.

Max discovered the Fitness Court at Legacy Park and John Hunt Park as a simple way to warm up before practice. It quickly became a central part of his routine—accessible, versatile and built for the kind of high-energy lifestyle he leads.

“One thing I enjoy about Fitness Courts is how they’re so versatile,” Max shared. “I can do just about anything there, and they also have really cool artwork. I’ve been incorporating them into my warm up or cool down after long tournaments or games.”

Whether he’s preparing for a pitching session, a wrestling meet, or switching gears after a long day of travel tournaments, the Fitness Court provides Max with a consistent space to reset. With his travel baseball team taking him across the country, he has explored more than forty Fitness Courts nationwide, turning each new installation into an opportunity to stay active, balanced, and focused. He also uses the Fitness Court app to find which Fitness Court is closest to his travel activities and to guide his workouts, warm-ups, and cooldowns—selecting beginner-level routines for pre- or post-activity recovery, or more advanced workouts between sporting events to maintain strength and conditioning on the road.

For Max, movement is key to confidence, mental clarity and fun. “Living an active life is important to me because it keeps me looking good, and it’s also really fun to be outside and having an active life,” he says. His story reflects what communities across the country experience every day: when young people have free, outdoor spaces designed for wellness, they show up with curiosity, energy and the desire to lead.

Max represents the heart of the National Fitness Campaign: empowering the next generation to build strong habits, support their social-emotional health and pursue their goals with purpose. As he prepares for another school year filled with academics, athletics and big dreams, the Fitness Court remains a constant reminder that committing to wellness creates opportunities far beyond the workout itself.

Through students like Max, NFC's growing network of Fitness Courts are fueling active lives, sparking inspiration and helping communities thrive.
