In Jackson, MS, local trainer Briana Benn is turning the Keith Haring Fitness Court® into a thriving community wellness hub. As the lead ambassador at the city’s launch, she’s continued to inspire residents with free Saturday boot camps, hands-on training with city leaders, and holistic health programming through her nearby gym, The Organic Space.
When the City of Jackson unveiled its Keith Haring Fitness Court in October 2024, it wasn’t just a new piece of public art or outdoor equipment—it became a symbol of community wellness. At the heart of that activation was local trainer and wellness leader Briana Benn, who has been turning her passion for holistic health into action across the city.
As the lead ambassador during the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Briana guided attendees through the seven stations of the Fitness Court, demonstrating how every person, regardless of age or fitness level, could benefit from the space. Her energy that day set the tone for what would become a lasting movement in Jackson.
Following the launch, Briana began hosting free Saturday morning boot camps at the Fitness Court in Belhaven Heights Park, giving residents a one-hour, high-energy workout surrounded by the vibrancy of the Museum Trail. “Health and fitness aren't just for a certain demographic of people — it's for everybody,” said Briana Benn, the owner of Organic Fitness and Nutrition. “Everybody deserves some type of resource to be healthy. This Fitness Court is very user-friendly. Somebody may not have the resources to pay for a gym membership. You can come out here for free and train, and you can walk the museum trail right next to it.”
Her leadership extended beyond community classes. Briana even took Jackson Mayor John Horhn through a session on the Fitness Court, showing him firsthand how accessible and dynamic the space could be. That hands-on connection between civic leaders, local trainers, and residents has helped the Fitness Court evolve into a true wellness hub.
Briana’s impact continued to grow when she opened The Organic Space, her own gym near the Fitness Court. There, she offers small group and one-on-one training, online programs, and health-focused resources such as meal prep and cold-pressed juices. The proximity to the Fitness Court allows her to integrate outdoor movement and public fitness into her programming, creating a bridge between structured training and free community wellness.
Through her efforts, the Fitness Court has become more than a workout space—it’s a gathering place where health, art, and accessibility come together. Briana’s dedication to bringing people together through movement embodies the mission of NFC: to make world-class fitness free and accessible to everyone. In Jackson, the Fitness Court stands as both a landmark and a lifestyle, and Briana Benn continues to lead the charge.
