Miami Township and its community partners marked a milestone moment with the unveiling of a brand-new Fitness Court Studio and the dedication of “Historic Miami Township,” a vibrant public art installation created by nationally known local artist Kate Albert. The project, led in collaboration with the Clermont County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Milford Miami Township Chamber of Commerce, and the America 250–Clermont County committee, was celebrated with a ribbon cutting at Community Park—bringing together history, art, wellness, and civic pride in one iconic space.

The event, held Buckwheat Rd., welcomed residents, partners, and local leaders eager to celebrate Miami Township’s first Fitness Court, developed by NFC. The outdoor wellness platform offers free, accessible full-body workouts, featuring circuit-style bodyweight training stations supported by optional digital programming through the Fitness Court App.

For Miami Township Administrator Steve Kelly, the launch represents a new chapter in community wellness and a meaningful contribution to a historic moment for the region. "We're thrilled to bring together fitness, art, and national pride in one beautiful space," said Kelly. "This project not only supports healthy living and community wellness but also highlights Miami Township's participation in the America 250 celebration, connecting our local heritage to the broader story of the United States."

NFC founder Mitch Menaged celebrated the partnership and the township’s dedication to building a healthier future. “We are excited to have Miami Township join us in the journey to improve health and wellness as we work to make a powerful and long-lasting impact on health outcomes and happiness by building healthy communities across America,’’ said Menaged. “The addition of the outdoor Fitness Court Studio, along with digital wellness programming, demonstrates a tremendous commitment to the health and wellbeing within the Miami Township community.”

A Fitness Court That Doubles as a Living Museum

What makes Miami Township’s installation uniquely powerful is the mural that adorns the site—an expansive, richly detailed historical tribute titled “Historic Miami Township.” Created by Kate Albert, a Miami Township resident and nationally recognized artist, the artwork is the first of eight America 250–Clermont County murals planned across the region leading up to the semiquincentennial in 2026.

The mural transforms the Fitness Court into a living museum, offering residents and visitors an immersive visual timeline of the people, places, and stories that shaped the community. From long-standing farms and early industries to cultural landmarks, Native American history, and surprising local legends—including the famous diamond discovery of 1896—the artwork presents Miami Township’s past with vibrant energy and deep reverence.

For the Clermont County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the mural represents years of community interest and an opportunity to honor history in a contemporary, meaningful way. “Public art is something that many residents of Clermont County have been interested in for years. With 2026 approaching, our America 250-Clermont County committee thought this was perfect timing to combine art and history, sharing our rich history through what will be beautiful murals in celebration of our country's Semiquincentennial," shared Jeff Blom, President of the Clermont County Convention and Visitors Bureau and Co-Chair of the America 250–Clermont County committee.

Supported by community partners including Duke Energy Foundation and Connect Clermont, the installation was delivered through the joint leadership of the Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Milford Miami Township Chamber of Commerce, with extensive historical research contributed by Ed Brady of Marvelous Milford.

The finished mural not only stands as a tribute to early settlement, agriculture, education, faith communities, and civic leadership—it also reflects Miami Township’s identity as a thriving home to over 40,000 residents, where past and present come together in a shared commitment to community wellness and pride.

A Celebration for Generations to Come

During the ribbon cutting, local leaders emphasized the significance of dedicating an outdoor, fully public Fitness Court as the platform for this historic mural. Its placement inside Community Park ensures that Miami Township’s heritage will be encountered not behind museum doors, but in a space where neighbors gather, families recreate, and community members build healthy habits.

The Fitness Court now serves not only as a destination for physical activity, but as a cultural touchpoint—an inspiring symbol of Miami Township’s legacy and a lasting investment in its future.

Miami Township’s launch is a model for communities that want to blend wellness, local pride, and powerful public art into a single destination. Their success shows what’s possible when leaders champion health, culture, and community identity together.
