Pea Ridge, AR — The City of Pea Ridge has taken another bold step toward building a healthier, more connected community with the grand opening of its newest Fitness Court® at Pea Ridge City Park. On Monday, July 21, city leaders, first responders, and residents gathered to celebrate the launch of the outdoor wellness hub: a space designed to serve people of all ages and fitness levels.

The project reflects Parks and Recreation Director Kaleb Turner’s vision for elevating outdoor fitness access in the region.

"I would like to attack that problem for Arkansas, Pea Ridge and Benton County," Turner said. "This is especially important — creating more spaces at the City Park. This would make us a leader in outdoor fitness. We will be the only one in northwest Arkansas to have three Fitness Courts. The closest one is at Murphy Park in Springdale."

Turner explained that the new addition is much more than an upgrade to the park’s amenities.

“This space is more than just a piece of equipment that we’ve brought out, it’s a community investment into health, wellness and connection,” Turner said, describing the Fitness Court as a place where a variety of state-of-the-art exercise stations are designed to support the full body. “From cardio, strength, flexibility exercises, this Fitness Court is set up to serve everyone from teens just starting their health journey to active seniors starting to maintain their health and balance.”

The launch event had an extra dose of excitement thanks to a friendly first responder challenge organized by Turner. Members of the Pea Ridge Police Department and Fire/EMS competed for the honor of cutting the ribbon. Firefighter/EMT Michael Wiele came out on top, earning bragging rights for the fire department. Fellow competitors included Fire Capt. Medic Colton Lucas and Police Officers Jeff Hunt and Zach Gorden.

After welcoming the crowd, Turner invited Mayor Nathan See to the podium to share his enthusiasm for the project.

“This is a great opportunity for people to come out, work out together and create relationships,” said See, noting that the Fitness Court offers a unique venue not available everywhere in northwest Arkansas. “Whenever you think about this type of workout station, it’s about quality of life and creating a better quality of life for Pea Ridge residents and the region. We’re very glad and blessed to have this. We want people to come use this and enjoy it. Let it be an asset to them and the community.”

Ahead of the ribbon cutting, Mayor See also shared his excitement on LinkedIn, thanking National Fitness Campaign and the city’s parks leadership for their work in bringing the project to life.

“Check out our new addition at our city park — thank you to National Fitness Campaign as well our Parks and Recreation Director Kaleb Turner! Creating a better quality of life for residents one project at a time. The Fitness Court at City Park is now complete! This new outdoor workout space is open to the public and free to use. Rotate through all 7 fitness zones — Core, Squat, Push, Lunge, Pull, Agility, and Bend — for a full-body workout. It’s designed for ages 14 and up, with younger participants welcome with an adult. Scan the QR code on the wall for guided exercise plans and tutorials on how to use each zone. We’re excited to celebrate this new addition with you soon!”

On social media, the City of Pea Ridge thanked residents for their support and looked ahead to the Fitness Court’s lasting impact:

“This Fitness Court is a wonderful addition to Pea Ridge, providing a space for everyone to enjoy and stay active. A special shoutout to both the police and fire departments for participating in a friendly challenge to launch the Fitness Court. Congratulations to the fire department for winning and officially opening the Fitness Court!”

With this latest launch, Pea Ridge joins a growing network of communities committed to championing health and wellness. The city’s leadership believes the Fitness Court will inspire residents for years to come, helping create a stronger, more active Pea Ridge.
